A ruined city of the North located on the Cerenerian Sea coast. Located perilously close to the Plateau of Leng, Sarkomand was, in antiquity, one of the most fabulous cities of the Dreamlands. Sarkomand was built and inhabited by the Men of Leng before they were enslaved by the Moon-Beasts. Its best known feature is an entrance to the Underworld sometimes used by ghouls and nightgaunts, which is flanked by two massive lion statues carved of diorite. Another tunnel system connects Sarkomand to the Prehistoric Monastery.
Sarkomand is not completely abandoned, though. It is still the site of the lair of Oorn, the loathsome mate of Mnomquah.
New Sarkomand[]
Sarkomand is currently a barren ruin sitting at the base of a mountain range next to the sea. However, some pioneers have now established New Sarkomand, a fledgling colony nestling among the rubble of ages long-past. They sail to cities on the rim of the other sides of the Cerenerian Sea to look for more pioneers to join them and bolster their number. The emblem the ascendant colony have adopted is a black pair of lions with their tails intertwined, set on a red field. Matching badges and rosettes are given out to prospective colonists.
